Our leather is from the Laurentian Mountains, north of Montreal in Canada. Each year during hunting season we recuperate hides from hunters who are feeding their families, but don’t need the hides. We gather them, process them and have them tanned at a local tannery.
It is in our Native tradition to waste as little as possible. Please note that a Moose is a wild animal that has lived a wild life. There is joy and honour working with moose and the leather is going to show you its life experience. We live in Canada and we DO ship our leather to the US. Unless specified these leathers are pieces of quarter moose. Where we live most moose are quartered in order to carry out of the forest. We offer individual quarter pieces or bundles. A 25 sq ft bundle will include approx 4 quarter moose, 50 sq ft will include 8 to 9 pieces. ‘Seconds’ means that the grain/smooth side of the hides is scarred or the colour isn’t even enough to be called #1. But you can safely assume that the suede side is 90% perfect. So if you are planning on using suede out for your project then this is a great way to save some money.
