Brand New for Summer 2025
Introducing the Muskoka Indigenous Friends Cultural Centre Cookbook ft Tribal Spirit.
This cookbook is the best Indigenous Cookbook I have ever seen. From cover to cover everything about this book is well thought out. Physically neat and not too large, the ringed hinge makes it very practical in the kitchen, it included conversions, and possible substitutes, extra pages for notes and your thoughts and even a recipe BY Tribal Spirit.
This cookbook takes Indigenous ingredients and brings it forward into the modern kitchen. There are many traditional recipes such how to actually make Labrador Tea and Roasted Canada Goose but also warps through cultural tastes with recipes like Bison Steak Mexican Mole (our recipe) or Bannock Sloppy Joe. There are several recipes featuring Wild Rice…and even the very obvious and actually a little tricky…How to Cook Wild Rice.
Seriously…I know that when I start thinking, “What is for supper tonight”, I head to Mr Google for advice. But I am leaving this cookbook on my kitchen counter and going to just have fun working my way through the incredible range of ideas.
I have heard of it….but how the heck does one make Pemmican? Got it!! Curried Bass or Catfish…Yup, Slow Cooker Squirrel & Veggies….well maybe not…I really love my Red Squirrels.but I am totally going to substitute with chicken.
We strongly recommend that you throw one or two or five cookbooks in your cart as you are checking out. You are going to have fun and and you are going to look really cool give these as gifts.
Enough said…..150 pages over 200 recipes.
