“DIY” Medicine Bags Kits

One of the handiest things around the fire or gathering is a nice smudge kit or medicine bag.  Our pre-made kit includes a Moose Bag that we make, and a farmed abalone shell, sage and a small feather fan.  Recently we have had several people ask if they could make it themselves….and who are we to say no!!  So, our new 8″ Smudge Bag Kit consists of a front and back piece of leather (to be hand sewn together to create the bag), a moose leather strap (to be sewn into the side of the bag), Sinew, glovers needles AND very careful clear instructions on how to assemble your bag.  The kit also includes a fan (that we make for you with wild turkey and goose feathers), a farmed abalone shell and a linen bag of Californian Buffalo/White Sage.  We also suggest several different finishing techniques so that everyone can personalize their own bag.  Making the bag is an easy project that will make a great afternoon for the family or workshop.

Attention USA customers: we are not permitted to ship feathers into the United States.  Our thought is to add more white sage and a piece of leather to your Medicine Bag Kit to compensate for the missing fan.  AND perhaps this is an opportunity to make your own fan. We use a small branch, drill holes and glue feathers into the branch.  Then you can wrap the wood with leather we have included.
