A rattle is a Spiritual Tool that takes a serious beating (and keeps on ticking, for all you old folk out there) Sewing a rawhide rattle is quite a tricky process. Getting the stitching really even, tight and strong takes some serious skill. A rattle has to be strong, perfect tied so that it doesn’t fall apart with all that beating. What is inside the rattle has to be interesting, appealing and pleasing to the ear. All this to say…..Tribal Spirit makes a really great rattle. We are very proud of our rattles and you will be too. Tribal Spirit Deer Hide Rattles are made with a maple handle and a Deer hide rattle head. Inside we put a combination of copper pellets, glass beads and pebbles we gathered from a beach in Nova Scotia. Deer rattles are not suitable for sweat lodge…the hide is softer and will absorb humidity and can get squished. Deer is also a thinner hide and produces a higher tone.

  I buy all the hide and fur I use for making moccasins from Tribal Spirit.  The quality is  amazing, and the variety is much appreciated.  I also really love the traditional medicines they have available. There is often a kind note in the delivery - handwritten telling you that they sent a little extra. 🥺 As a customer, I feel a connection with this store - from the descriptions they create to describe a colour of hide, to the small batch herbal remedies, to the very fast response and kind you’ll receive if you have a question.  10 stars.
