From Spring 2024 hunt here in Quebec we worked really hard to get our #1 butcher to VERY carefully skin the hides. And they are amazing..thick, huge and going to be some of the best drums we have ever made.

Black Bear drums are my absolute favourite drums to both pull and play. They are medicine drums that do amazing work and are very powerful. Bear skin is different than other hides. They are very patterned and dramatic. These bear are legally harvested for food as part of the Quebec spring bear hunt. Over the years we have developed an extensive network of butchers and each year get a few dozen hides. This week I dove into these hides and pulled a bunch of wonderful drums. Enjoy.

The don’t stretch like other hides…they just need to be put together rather than pulled. These bear are legally harvested for food as part of the Quebec spring bear hunt.
