We had a really rough time coming up with a description for this. It is absolutely got a red tinge, with some brown and the closest easy description would be Merlot. But what would I know about merlot….so we are calling it Burgundy.
Fresh off of the presses ! We just got a load of burgundy moose back from our local tannery and we are very happy about it’s feel. This leather is very soft and supple.It is toggled when dried, so it is less stretchy. The colour is very uniform and the suede is soooo soft. The thickness is 3.5 ounces. Hides run from 6 sq ft up to 9 sqft. We have been working with 2 tanneries for a bunch of years and now we have introduced a third one to our mix. Every tannery has their own colour specialties so expect new colours down the road !
This is wild Moose from the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal. We gather them from hunters and have them tanned at a local tannery. 3 1/2 ounce is best for making purses, drum bags etc and for real pros moccasins.
